Tewkesbury Sprint Tri 16th May 2010

TTC is pleased to welcome race support for this years Triathlons from one of our favourite local running shops, Up and Running in Cheltenham. As you may know, Up and Running is one of the best known footwear chains in the UK and Pete from the Cheltenham branch has been one of our "friends" for quite some time. Commenting on the recent announcement of direct race support for the May and August events, Steve Darnell, Triathlon Race Organiser for 2010, welcomed the support on behalf of the club:- "Pete's experience in event support and knowledge of what Triathletes really need in terms of running footwear has been well demonstrated in recent years. We hold the tewkesbury sprint tri at the Tewkesbury Rugby Club HQ. Our thanks go to the rugby club for there much needed help in staging our event.

 

Note that cashing of cheque confirms entry and full details will be posted on the web site re where and when registration will take place.

These events take place in the historic medieval town of Tewkesbury which offers an opportunity for all standards of competitors to take part in a friendly event. Never tried Triathlon before? Why not start with us and take the opportunity to enjoy the fun that is Triathlon! The event is held at cascades swimming pool, and the ride goes out of tewkesbury to beckford via bredon and some other spectacular villages at the foot of bredon hill.  The out and back bike route offers a fantastic challenge and some great times have been made on the course, the record is 36:38 for the 25km bike leg.  The run then leads from t2 at cascades to the ancient vineyards and tewkesbury abbey fields and is a two lap course once at the fields.  The run leg is slightly shorter than 5km and is flat and fast. The SouthWest Series
The SouthWest Series is a competition where the competitor chooses 4 out of 11 races to compete in. One of these must be an open water swim. Both of our events (the Senior and Junior events) are qualifying events, should the competitor wish to join the series. For more information and entry form, go to the British Triathlon website.
