There was a great turnout at the first TTC Aquathlon of the season on Sunday. Competitors weren't sure whether to be grateful for the relatively mild temperatures or concerned with the fog and the slightly boggy run course. There was certainly an array of trail shoes and spikes on show.
Regular participants Nigel Gaskin and Caroline Jones took the 1st prizes overall in times of 22:36 and 24:51 respectively across the 400m swim and 5k run.
The age group winners were:
Male Open: Ollie Jones 23:56
Female Open: Kate Miller 28:36
Male Vet: Gethin Parham 26:19
Female Vet: Stephanie Cox 32:30
Male SuperVet: Mark Turton 24:43
Female SuperVet: Catriona Houston 31:55
Some of the winners, (L-R) Kate, Stephanie, Caroline, Mark, Ollie, Nigel and Catriona are shown in this week's photo.
Unfortunately a number of last minute withdrawals meant that only Harriet was there representing TTC, but she did finish in a respectable 34:01.
If there were points for marshalling, TTC members would have won hands down. As PJ noted in his email, there was nothing but compliments from the competitors on a well run event. Hopefully we can get a few more TTC competitors in the next event particularly those less experienced members. It's a nice low key event and you'll get plenty of support from fellow TTC members.
Four Club members took part in the latest Tewkesbury Parkrun which will was the first to count in the TTC league which will run to 31st October 2017. Nick finished in 3rd place with an age related score of 70.21%. He claimed he was saving himself for an event on the Sunday but omitted to tell me what it was. Other age related scores were Terry (59.75%) Ali (51.60%) & Linda (44.51%) although she was exercising the dog at the same time.
Finally, a number of members Teresa, Phil and Stu took part in the Naunton Nearly 19 event a tough, off road event which I'm reliably informed turned very boggy towards the end.
That's it for now. Don't forget the next Aquathlon is 12th February so get your name down either to compete or marshal.
