Aquathon 2

It was a bitterly cold day for the second Tewkesbury Triathlon Club Aquathlon with the wind chill making the temperatures sub-zero for the 400m swim and 5k run. Nevertheless almost 40 hardy souls braved the conditions and posted some respectable times.

Chris Gaskin kept it in the family by finishing first male overall in a time of 24:50 after his brother did not start due to injury. There was a welcome return by local competitor Eli Gibney who finished a second behind Chris. 1st male vet was Tim Gudgeon-Osterritter (29:07) and first male supervet was Mark Turton (25:20).

First woman over the line and winner of overall female was Caroline Jones (25:30) with Kate Miller (28:38) taking the open prize. TTC's Ruth Johnstone (29:16) celebrated her birthday by winning the female vet category and Teresa Tranter (33:30) took first female supervet.

Jason had a good race finishing in 35:07 followed by Jo in 36:46. Both posted swimming times around a minute faster than last year which they can be pleased with.

Once again the event was well marshalled by TTC members. Thanks to everyone. As one of the competitors said he'd rather be taking part than standing around in the cold ensuring events ran smoothly.
