According to the Met. Office, spring begins on the 1st March, so finally there is light at the end of the tunnel! If its any consolation, one of the You Tube sites suggests that good triathletes are made in the winter, so I guess you are all raring to go as the days get longer.
A quick round up of recent events first: Three TTC members took part in the recent Bourton on the Water 10k race with Kate taking the honours in 50:59 with Linda and Kathy finishing together in 1:04:00. If you ask her nicely, I'm sure Kathy will share her eve of race nutrition strategy with you....
Phillip raised the bar in terms of endurance insanity over the weekend competing two marathons in consecutive days in times of 5:36:00 and 6:04:00 respectively. In doing so, he clocked up marathons 214 & 215!
However achievement of this round up goes to Richard who managed to finish an impressive 12th at the recent Gloucs AA cross country event in Pittville Park in a time of 35:00. This was a great result in a quality field of athletes. I hear that his swimming has improved considerably and if he manages to master the bike over the summer, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
The observant among you will have noticed that there is now an events calendar on the website. I haven't got around to populating it yet but it would be great if members could let me know which events they are targeting in order that we can make others aware and possibly arrange some cheerleaders.
Finally, your committee has worked to exchange 20 entries for our events with some for the Evesham Tri Club Ragley Hall open water sprint event (750m swim open water/ 24k bike/ 5k run). The concept is that TTC turn up with 20 or more entrants plus supporters and have a club day out. The Ragley Hall event is on 21st May. These entries are available to ALL club members who wish to partake at any level, as a training exercise, a preparation for another event, just for fun or to set a record! All are welcome.
The entries will be FREE for TTC members (if 20 or less) or VERY low cost if we exceed the 20. We are hoping to have a band of supporters, family and friends and a social activity course side. If you are interested in competing in what could be a great club get together, sign up here. We hope as many as possible can join us.
