A Warm Weekend of Activity

The warmest days of the year so far brought TTC'ers out in force this weekend but before I get on to that, an apology to Karl who's 3.58 finish in the Manchester marathon was missing from last week's round up. He was hoping for better but we all have these setbacks....

Moving on to last weekend, and starting with the parkrun, there was a good representation from TTC. Richard stormed the course, with what I think is the fastest run by a club member of 17:20 and an age related score of 74.42% - more of his escapades later. Stu recorded 68.96%, Kate 62.36%, Angela 56.16% with Alison shepherding younger runners around in 42.45%.

There was a bumper turn out for the final event in what has been a successful Aquathlon series. There were some fine performances from Club members; Tom pipped Stu by 4 seconds to take 8th place overall, Liz managed 28th, Dan 32nd, Kathy 39th, Jenny 40th, Linda 43rd and Helen 49th. If I've missed you out, let me know.

Meanwhile Sharon from the Try a Tri course thought that, while she is still building up her swimming technique, she would enter Hereford duathlon to 'practice her transition technique'. She did better than that and won the 1st Female Vet prize! A half decent swim at the Spring Sprint Tri could see a good result for Sharon there

Finally back to this week's human dynamo Richard. The quick parkrun time mentioned above was done after completing the Saturday morning swim and the Friday night track session too. He then completed in two other events:- First up on Sunday was the Kymin Dash, a hill race with 2km to the top with 180m of climb, 5.5km down on undulating Forest of Dean trails then 4km of flat road running to the finish. He was 2nd last year (behind Huw Evans!) but managed to better that result on an extremely hot day and won a massive fruit hamper. He celebrated by winning his orienteering club's local league event to cap off an eventful weekend. If someone shows him how to use a bike, there'll be no stopping him! The picture is courtesy of the Kymin Dash Facebook page.

Finally good luck to all those competing over the long Easter weekend particularly Chris who is taking on the Devizes to Westminster canoe race. As always, if you want to see your name in lights, don't forget to tell me what you are up to.
