Another event filled week

It was all action this weekend with a range of events to keep the hardy and the not so hardy Club member occupied.

Dan & Jennie took advantage of a family visit up north to take part in the Wilmslow swycle a swim/bike event which is part of Wilmslow triathlon series. Jennie was 2nd female, and Dan 5th male. The lack of a run section made it the perfect opportunity for Jennie to beat Dan which she did by a massive one minute. I suspect this may become her favourite discipline!

Gavin completed his first standard triathlon at Worcester finshing the 1500m swim/60km bike and 10k run in 3:20. This earned him 52nd place out of 100 entrants. He's looking forward to June when revised work commitments mean he will get to more Club sessions.

Russ meanwhile took on the Brecon Beacons marathon. In addition to the marathon distance of 26 miles, the course boasts an elevation gain of 2843 metres or 9327 feet. Even he had to admit it was challenging. Russ was pleased to finish in 5:29 and take 27th position our of 93 starters.

Also out on the hills recently was Teresa who was finished 4th overall and first female home in the Malvern Hills Ultra 22 mile race in an impressive time of 5:46. Mind you, they have some way to go to catch Phil who finished the Meridian Meander marathon. He also completed the Shakespeare marathon the week before in 5:14. Finishing these two means that he has now completed a total of 222 marathon or longer races taking him to 2/3rds of his 333 lifetime target.

The Tewkesbury Half Marathon saw nine members complete the course. First TTC home was Karl in 1:34 followed by Stu (1.36), , David (1:41), Elaine (1:53), Alec (1:56), Glenda (2:07), Linda (2:12), Kate (2:16) and Helen (3:10). Decent performances on what turned out to be a warm day.

Final event for the week was the British Heart Foundation 50 mile Cotswold bike ride where a members had the delights of a particularly hilly leg freshener. I've picked out a number of finishers I know of - Gwynn, Anne, Mark, Pete, Mike, Dave, Liz, Paul, Kathy and Becky. There may well have been more but there wasn't a finishers' list. If you let me know, I'll give you an honourable mention next time.

Finally, there's a couple of events over the next two weeks, the 21st sees the Phoenix Sprint Triathlon at Ragley Hall. There should be a good turnout of TTCers following Paul's efforts to secure places. I know that for a number of you it will be your first experience of an open water race so good luck. Unfortunately I wont be there as I will be trying to conquer, or at least climb, some hills so feel free to take a few photos etc.

The week after (28th) sees the Gloucester Sprint Tri, again good luck if you've entered.
