Our Spring Tri
What a great day for the first Spring Sprint Tri at the new Leisure Centre. The sun shone, the venue was terrific. There was a great turnout of members both to marshal and compete. All the people I spoke to seem to have a good time and were particularly impressed by the support and encouragement they received from marshals around the course.
The results will be up on the website shortly but Nick Slim was the overall winner in a time of 1hr and 59 seconds and there was a lovely piece written by Emma about his victory and motivation on the TriRadar website which is well worth a read. Ruth Johnson contributed to a successful TTC day and took a well deserved 2nd overall female in 1:12:28.
And finally a word on this year's 'Try a Tri' course participants. There were some decent performances here too with the first male Sam Challenor coming home in 1:19:43 and first female Sharon Peters in 1:26:38. For some this will hopefully be the start a long and varied triathlon experience whereas for others it will be another achievement ticked off and a move to other things. Whichever route they take, let's wish them luck.
Meanwhile Tom was taking part in the Taunton Deane Triathlon and finished in 1:20:23 despite having problems on the bike leg.
