Swansea, Sandford, Sprints and Swimming

The catch up continues with the Cheltenham Lido Super Sprint Tri. A strong swim from Jane saw her hold of the chasing pack to be the first TTCer home in 49:18; ahead of Jason (51:06) who took 30 secs of his previous best for the course. He was followed in by Russ (52:29, Kate (53:03) and Tracy (1:02:00).

Meanwhile out at Newent Nick secured another win storming around the course in 50:33. Fellow member Alec finished in 1:07:00. Unfortunately Nick's good run of form was thwarted at the Ludlow Sprint where a puncture on the bike course resulted in a DNF.

This year Becky has had a few health problems which knocked back her training. Despite this she was delighted to finish the Mumbles Tri in appalling conditions recently. She described the swim as a foggy washing machine of 900m instead of 750m, the bike was a battle against rain & wind & hills & leaves. The run was flat & wet but got a PB despiitey frozen legs! Under the circumstances a finish time of 2:14 was remarkable.

The Devil's aquathlon which also took place at Sandford Lido saw a three TTCers out and about. The course consisted of a 2k pool swim followed by a 10k run up and down Leckhampton Hill. Russ was first home for TTC in a time of 1:34:03 followed closely behind by Paul in 1:34:37 and Jason in 1:52:57

There were also a number of fine performances of a non-triathlon nature.

Elaine completed the inaugural 4km Exmoor open swim in 1:35:44 and also completed her first sub 4 hour marathon at Chester in 3:58:21

Tracy, Sheena, Emma and Jennie completed the big Wye swim. The flow on the river made it a very quick event with both Jennie and Emma, both strong swimmers anyway, clocking less than 1:15:00 for the 7k and Tracy and Sheena almost getting out before they started on the 1k course!

Finally, I haven't had a report from the Trimageddon event, but I do have a great photo of Caroline with her prizes and it would be a shame not to use it!

We are nearly up to date now. I've got a few more to add but you know what to do if you want to feature in the next update.
