Deep and Crisp and Muddy

The couple of weeks up to Christmas generally sees a wind down of activities but you can rely on members to do their bit to to raise a sweat.

Female members of the Club carried the flag at the Croome night run with Hannah Becky, Julia, Caroline, and Elaine, finishing the self timed course.

We then got into the Festive races with the Evesham Festive 10k and the Weston-Super-Mare Christmas Cracker 10k.

A very muddy Evesham race saw a good turn out of Club Members with the honours going to Owen who finished in 36.13 giving him a 20 second advantage over the 2nd placed finisher. Russell was next Club member home in 44.32 then Dan (53.42), Terry (1.04.0) and Julia and Jennie (1.18.0).

Meanwhile on a bracing Weston sea front Linda and Kathy were festively dressed for a 10k run along the prom. Kathy finished in !.08.00 with Linda 5 minutes behind. Unfortunately there is no photographic evidence!

There was a great turn out for the Club pre-Xmas social swim. A great selection of relay races finished with a no rules version of water polo topped off by coffee and cake. Well done the two Daves for putting this on!

Moving on to Xmas day, the more sensible of us headed for a gentle kilometre or so in the nice warm pool whereas the more hardy braved the Lido at Cheltenham. I know which one I preferred!!

Following the excesses of Christmas day, a few of us ventured out on Cheltenham racecourse to support the Winston's Wish charity run. This year it was untimed with all walkers and runners over both distances going off together. This led to a bit of Christmas chaos but I think everyone survived. We managed a photo with Duncan but unfortunately Becky had disappeared!

Unless Caroline decides to do a Christmas broadcast, this is the last update for 2017. Best wishes for 2018. Get those race entries in and that training plan written!

Finally as one member says you can't overestimate the benefits of rest and recuperation at this time of the year.
