Busy, Busy, Busy!

There's been a lot of action since the last update and I probably haven't managed to pick it all up - still if you're not on the list, you've only got yourself to blame for not telling me!!

Starting off with running; It seems a while ago now but we did have a few TTC representatives in the Pendock Spring Chicken 10k run. The ones I managed to pick out from the results were Helen in 55 minutes, Caroline (1:02) closely followed by Phil Howells in 1:07.

A couple of us managed to shake up the chocolate eggs on Easter Monday by running the Bushley mile. Terry finished the course in 8:17 followed by Alie in 9:05.

Moving up the distances, four TTCers completed the rearranged Forest of Dean half marathon which had been the victim of the snow a week or two earlier.

Richard managed a fine 1:16:51 on a testing course to take fourth place. PJ made it home in 1:39 followed by Liz (1:53) and Caroline (2:09).

Meanwhile Helen could accuse them of being a bit lightweight as she completed the Manchester marathon, comfortably breaking the four hour barrier in 3:56.

But even she was a bit short on distance compared to Teresa who completed the Vale of Glamorgan Coast Ultra Challenge. One competitor said that following heavy rain the course was waterlogged and very muddy which made running difficult. A trip around Barry added to the excitement!

Nick managed to pull off the cycling achievement of this update with a ride through northern France to finish the Paris Roubaix sportive.

This 175km ride includes 55km of tough northern cobbles. Known as the Hell of the North the professional race which takes place the day after is one of the famous 'Monument' races.

Nick survived the day with no flats or major mechanicals finishing in just under 6hrs. As Nick says 'It’s difficult to describe how hard it is on body and bike until you've done it'. He was still suffering the aches a few days later.

And finally onto the multi-discipline stuff,

There was a great turnout of Club members at the last of this year's extended aquathlon series, with 11 entrants and a host of marshals and helpers. Richard recovered sufficiently from his half marathon exploits the day before to lead TTC home in a time of 25:08 followed by Tom (26:42), Martin (27:58), Stuart (28:14), Claudia (28:46), narrowly pipping Scott (28:53), new member Chris (30:50), Elaine (34:16), Jo (35:01), Terry (40:18) and finally Nicole, competing in her first multi-discipline event and finishing very creditable 45:39 - definitely more to come from her!
